When you use a Google service, every search, tap and website is tracked on a minute-by-minute basis. Your Google data has value, and My Google data lets you earn points from it. ✨
By connecting your Google account to Gener8, you can securely share insights from your Google activity and earn points when eligible data becomes available. Follow the steps below to get connected and start earning.
💡 Please note that while the Gener8 App is in its early stages, we are working hard to stabilise this feature. If your My Google data stops or does not complete the full journey, please contact [email protected] with a screenshot of the issue so that we can pass this information on to our mobile team.
Start the setup in the Gener8 App 📱
Open the Gener8 App
Navigate to the My Data tab
Find My Google data
Tap Connect Google account.
Sign in to the Google account you'd like to connect.
Follow the prompts to grant permission.
Once connected, your points will be added automatically when eligible data is available.
A few things you should know 💡
🔐 This is information is private and secure. When you choose to request your data, it is saved locally to your device.
None of this data leaves your device until you give your express permission for it to do so - when you select 'Earn from my Google data' 👌.
⏰ If Google holds a lot of data on your account, your first request may take a few minutes to prepare.
If your data isn't ready straight away, wait around 10 minutes and then check again.
💡 If you're using iOS, once you've chosen all or some of the data you'd like to earn from, you'll need to make sure that you select 'Allow' to give Gener8 permission to create value from your data.
How does it work? ✨
How often do I earn points?
You'll receive points when new eligible Google data becomes available on your connected account.
Can I connect a different Google account?
Yes. If your connection expires, you can reconnect using a different Google account if you'd prefer. 🙌
Why do I need to reconnect my account?
How long your connection lasts depends on where you're based:
Outside of the UK: Google currently only allows Gener8 to access your data for 7 days at a time. Once the countdown ends, you'll need to reconnect your Google account to continue earning points.
In the UK: You will able to grant permission for a longer connection period, meaning you won't need to reconnect every week.
Why can't I connect my Google account?
Make sure you're signing in with the correct Google account and that you've completed all of Google's permission screens.
Why haven't I received any points yet?
Points are only awarded when eligible data is available on your account, so it may take some time for points to appear.
Can I use a different Google account when reconnecting?
Yes. Once your previous connection has expired, you can reconnect using another Google account.
How to background My Google data
Did you know, you can minimise My Google data while we request your data. 🔎
Instead of waiting for My Google data to complete, you can now go ahead and make new connections or check out the latest rewards while the feature works away in the background. 🙌
